I had the privilege of growing up in Southwest Harbor, Maine. My family owned and operated Hinckley Yachts, a company started by my Grandfather in 1928. Consequently, the boat business has been a very important part of my life. In 2013 I started my New England-based matchmaking agency with offices in Boston, MA and Portland, ME.

The process of dating has become a lot less personal in the last 20 years. People are often meeting online and texting each other before they meet in person. Sometimes there’s actually very little face-to-face contact. Most would agree that dating these days is simply more challenging.

There isn’t a particular set of agreed-upon rules like there used to be about such things as who should pay. Also, there are now so many more ways to interact with other singles that people end up with an endless selection of potential matches – most of whom probably just aren’t right for them.

So the question becomes how to narrow down the pool to those with real potential. My matchmaking and coaching programs help my clients to navigate all these new possibilities. We look at the big picture, what they have been through, what they’re looking for, and all the available resources to create a dating strategy for meeting someone with true potential as a long-term partner.
