Son of Bob and Tina Hinckley. Grew up in the family business working at 'the yard" during high school and college. Started working at Hinckley's sister company, Bass Harbor Marine in 8th grade as well as worked for BHM in sales, opening the Hinckley / BHM office in Newport RI, in 1992. Soon after the ill fated "luxury tax" crushed the boat building business and Barry took a job in technology in Boston. Barry is the administrator of this site and remains in the technology business today.
Barry was the captain of SW41 Dragon Fire for 2 years after college and part of the famed David Elliman and John Marshall crew that won the Northern Ocean Racing Trophy 2 years in a row, the second time with a perfect score, wining all qualifying races. Former 25+ year USCG Coast Captain Merchant Marine License as well as former 25+year private pilot.
